Overview

The swimming event will take place at Medina Leisure Centre which is situated just outside the Island's County town of Newport, on the main Fairlee Road to Ryde and is well served by local buses.

The centre was built in the early 1980's and was the venue for the swimming event at the !993 NatWest Island Games, held on the Isle of Wight. The 25 metre pool has six lanes and will have fully automatic timing in place. Extra spectator seating for the Games event will be installed.
 
The competition will run over four days, Monday June 27th to Thursday June 30th with heats starting at 10.00 a.m. each day and finals in the evening.

There will be catering facilities on site.

Swimming on the Isle of Wight

There are four public, indoor swimming pools on the Island all with teaching schemes. Three are hosts to swimming clubs and there are also two active Masters swimming clubs.

Sea swimming is popular during the summer months at a number of the beautiful beach locations around the Island.
