The sailing events for the 2011 NatWest Island Games will take place in Sandown Bay. It is a five mile wide, gently shelving sandy bay on the SE coast and is the main resort beach on the Isle of Wight. Tidal streams here are gentle (1 knot maximum) and Yaverland Sailing & Boat Club to the NE end of the bay will be your hosts for 2011.

In preparation for 2011 we will organise an open Laser meeting at Yaverland in 2010 to practice our race management skills.

You will see from the website that other sports will be based in the Sandown Bay area, so you will be with many other athletes during your stay, including our fellow water users, the windsurfers.

The Principal Race Officer will be Steve Cole who has held all the top jobs at Gurnard SC and is currently their race manager and PRO for Cowes Dinghy Week (Cowes Week for 220 dinghies racing at Gurnard) he is an RYA National Race Officer.
