Island Games Association awarded major lottery funding

An Arts Council grant of £94,099 funded by the National Lottery has been awarded to the Island Games Association (IW) for the Opening Ceremony of the international NatWest Island Games 2011 which will be held at Ryde on the Isle of Wight on Saturday 25th June next year.

Preparations for Åland 2009 Games

A demanding trip to Åland, off the coast of Sweden, faces the Isle of Wight team for this summer’s 2009 Games.

Preparations are well underway and at this stage the 165 strong Isle of Wight Team will be the largest to travel away since the Isle of Man Games in 2001.

Island Games to Launch 'Get Involved' Campaign

The build up to the 2011 NatWest Island Games will officially begin this week with the launch of a ‘Get Involved’ campaign at Cowes Yacht Haven.

The Island Games Organising Committee will be joined by the Chairman of the International Island Games Committee, Jorgen Pettersson and double gold medal winning sailor Shirley Robertson for the event taking place on Thursday 19 March 2009. They will announce plans for the 2011 NatWest Island Games which will take place on the Isle of Wight.
