The Isle of Wight based Adult, Community and Family Learning Service, in conjunction with the Island Games Association (IW), has produced a pack of resources for schools which provides ideas for whole school, class and family involvement in many aspects of the Games.

This event has strong links to all curriculum areas, from art and design to music, geography and maths.  With teams coming from as far away as St Helena in the Southern Atlantic and from all corners of the British Isles, there is plenty to spark the imagination of our youngsters, from the Early Years through to High School.

The Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) are encouraging all schools to take part and be registered for the international schools award. 

Registration for the award has been set before 2010 therefore we are pleased to announce that the NatWest Island Games will form part of this exciting global partnership. 

The Isle of Wight Schools Global Partnership Group has come together with the Island Games Association to plan the involvement of Isle of Wight schools with schools from participating islands. 

At present nearly 30 schools have registered an interest in becoming part of the global partnerships programme via the NatWest Island Games. 

We are delighted that a number of schools have already expressed an interest to join the education programme.

We are now asking those schools that have yet to reply, to consider joining the programme. We are very fortunate to have Judy Whitmore (ex head teacher) to help assist schools in the development of thoughts and ideas and once registered will be making arrangements to speak to you directly.
